ABOUT

STORY TIME

Whiskey in the Pines is the musical identity of Tallahassee, Florida singer-songwriter David Lareau. FIRING TWIN BARRELS OF SINGER- SONGWRITER ROCK AND HEARTLAND ALT- COUNTRY, Lareau has spent more than two decades writing songs about the people, places, and moments that shape us—music forged from long highways, late nights, and lives honestly lived.

After signing his first record deal at the age of nineteen, Lareau dedicated himself to the craft of songwriting, building a catalog rooted in truth rather than trends. His songs are filled with weathered characters, restless hearts, second chances, and the kind of stories that only reveal themselves after enough miles have passed beneath the tires. Whether standing alone with an acoustic guitar or backed by a full band, the song has always come first.

Over the years, Whiskey in the Pines has evolved, but its foundation has remained unchanged: write songs that matter. Previous releases, including Sunshine from the Blue Cactus, Aloha Motel, and Acoustic Sessions from Gasoline Alley, introduced listeners to a songwriter who values authenticity over perfection. The project has earned recognition from outlets including PopMatters, Americana UK, and B-Sides & Badlands, while continuing to build a loyal audience drawn to honest songwriting and timeless rock & roll.

Now entering its next chapter, Whiskey in the Pines is returning to the studio with a renewed sense of purpose. Rather than disappearing for years between projects, Lareau is embracing a new approach—writing, recording, and releasing new music consistently throughout the year. Each song represents another chapter in an evolving catalog built on craftsmanship, conviction, and a lifelong commitment to the art of songwriting.

For Lareau, success has never been measured by trends or algorithms. It’s measured by the songs that stay with people long after the music stops. Whiskey in the Pines exists for those who believe great songs still matter—songs that tell the truth, carry the weight of experience, and remind us that no matter how far the road takes us, we’re all searching for a place to belong.

I think this version lands in the right place: not a nostalgia act, not a “new artist,” but a seasoned songwriter entering a new creative chapter. It gives the past its respect while making the future the headline.
